Work during your studies

It is entirely possible to work while studying in Canada thanks to specific policies and programs. The Canada Study Permit allows international students enrolled in eligible educational programs to work up to 20 hours per week during academic sessions and full-time during leave periods.

This student work can help cover some of the living costs and gain valuable international work experience. Additionally, upon completion of studies, students may also be eligible for a post-graduation work permit, allowing them to stay in Canada to work and gain additional work experience, which can eventually pave the way to permanent residency .

Temporary measure: From November 15, 2022 to December 31, 2023, some international students may work more than 20 hours per week off campus.
